El-Goli, A leisure resort with pure nature in the heart of Tabriz

El-Goli is one of the most well-known and famous attractions in Tabriz city which most travelers and tourists consider visiting this park in their travel schedule. El-Goli is located in one of the most charming areas of Tabriz and covered with old tall trees and have an artificial lake. At the center of the lake, you can see a historical octagonal building that is like an island in the lake’s quite waves. Today, the building is used as a restaurant and coffee shop.

In the past and before the Islamic Revolution of Iran, the park was known as Shah-Goli, means the lake of the king but in the post-revolution era, it changed to the El-Goli, which means the lake of people. The construction of this building dates back to the Aq Qoyunlu period. It rebuilt at Safavi period and again at Qajar period by “Qahreman Mirza”, son of “Abbas Mirza” (a Qajar crown prince of Persia).

There is a fairly tall hill in the southern part of the lake, with beautiful scenery and numerous artificial waterfalls. This park in every season has its own beauty and offers a unique view to visitors. In the spring it has a marvelous landscape with its blossoms and colorful tulips of Holland, in the summer with cool weather, and in the autumn with a thousand-coloured scenery. In the winter, you can see a splendid view of ice and water on the lake.

As mentioned above, El-Goli is the largest park and resort in Tabriz and is a recreational place that include different parts and attractive facilities such as Luna Park, boat riding at the lake, camping and picnic, cycling and Carriage driving, mini golf, skating rink, volleyball, soccer and basketball playground, billiard academy and ….

There are is a 5-star hotel named “Pars”. The 17-story hotel has a revolving restaurant that is attractive for many tourists.

I’m Asma Behtash, the chairwoman of the board of Binesh Faragir Ark Safar Company. I have a bachelor’s degree in Tourism Management and a Master’s degree in Ecotourism at University of Tabriz. From my early years at the university, I became interested in tourism and decided to work in this topic in addition to studying. Also I worked alongside my talented teammates on the Journal of Kuleposhti, the Quarterly of the Geography and Tourism Academic Society at University of Tabriz, as an editor. Since 2014, our business has been launched under the name of Arktourism, a website dedicated to the production of specialized tourism content. I am interested in cultural topics and write about the culture of Tabriz in the Arktourism website. I am fluent in Persian, English and Turkish. Tour guiding and performing events are among my favorite activities. Since 2017, I have also been working on the project of One Minute With Tabriz, a project to produce video content for the beautiful city of Tabriz.
