The Un Ebne Ali Mountain, which is also called Eynali or Eynal- Zeynal in the local language, is located in the north of Tabriz.
Un Ebne Ali Mountain is one of the peaks of the Sorkhab Mountain range. The Sorkhab Mountain Range, named from its red soil, has 5 peaks as follows:
Dand Peak, Bahlul Peak, Pokeh Chin Peak, Hilleh Peak, Un Ebne Ali Peak.
Dand Peak is the highest peak of this mountain range and Un Ebne Ali is the lowest peak of it. Tavernier has mentioned in his travelogue that there were a fire temple and a house of worship at the current site of the tomb of Un Ebne Ali before the arrival of Islam to Iran, which became the shrine after Islam.
Some sources point out that after the 10th century AD, this place has been one of the worship places of Nematollahi dervishes.
Also, Tavernier points out that after turning to a mosque, there was an ancient cellar and some graves belonged to the kings of the Medes.
The monastery was built in the style of the Ilkhanate architecture and dates back to the Ilkhanate period. The building is one of the few buildings that date back to before the Qajar; because most of the buildings that were in Tabriz before the Qajar era were destroyed by two earthquakes and few of them survived.
The building consists 9 rooms, 6 domes, a porch, and balcony. In the Qajar period, a room was built on the northern side of the building to prevent its destruction. The building was destroyed in the ninth century AH due to the invasion of the Ottoman Empire and was rebuilt during the reign of Shah Abbas I, but was severely demolished by the earthquake of 1193. The building of tomb was again restored by Qahreman Mirza in the late 13th century.
There are also 8 Iran- Iraq war martyrs’ memorials over this mountain. The construction of this building has been started since 2002 and finished on 21 September 2006. Shahriyar’s poems and Islamic patterns were used in this building and its architectural style is in the style of Iranian shrines.
The first phase of the Un Ebne Ali Gondola lift was opened in 2010. This Gondola lift was made by the worlds most up to date science and equipment and in collaboration with an Austrian–Swiss company named Doppelmayr Garaventa Group. The gondola lift has 6 supporting towers that will be increased to 24 in the final phase. Each cabin can carry 640 kilos or 8 people. The length of the first phase is 1480 meters and the height of the first and second stations is 240 meters.
There is an artificial waterfall beside the first station of the gondola lift. The waterfall has water in the spring and summer but in the autumn and winter, the water route is closed.
At the end of the second phase, the gondola lift is supposed to reach the Shahid Madani dam and in the third phase, will connect to the Dand peak. After completion, the gondola lift will be the longest gondola lift in the country.
The gondola lift of Tabriz has facilities like a restaurant, a buffet, and a coffee shop, a prayer room, a parking, and toilets.
Eynali Zip-line is the thinnest and longest Zip-line in the country. This project was launched in April 2018. The Un Ebne Ali Zip-line is 500 meters long and the difference of beginning and end point height is 75 meters.
The first station starts from the rocky Statue of Ostad Shahriyar and ends on the hill of the Nahalestan alongside the teapot statue.
