Bazaar and Occupations Museum of Tabriz

Bazaar and Occupations Museum of Tabriz is the one of the most exclusive museum of Iran.

It is located near the historical market of Tabriz and the first specialized museum of Iran. This unique center has started working by efforts of “Sarabi Agdam” brothers and includes all objects which used in the traditional business of Tabriz. The museum has built in three separate floors with part of the cultural aesthetics, artistic features and customs of ancient Tabriz. One of floors is bazaar simulation with various occupation stores. Two other floors are exhibition of historical images of Tabriz and Tabriz carpet fair.

The fascinating part of Bazaar and Occupations Museum of Tabriz is the cinema of that. This expertism cinema helps visitors to know bazaar with real images and documentaries, which revive past bazaar for them.

There are 11 pavilions that are introducing, being oblivious, occupations in the ancient Tabriz including forging, Atari (herbal medical shop), traditional photography and carpentry.

The design of Bazaar and Occupations Museum of Tabriz affected by the method of historical context of the Tabriz covered bazaar and “Sedeghied Yakhchal” (historical refrigerator). That special traditional design has been implemented by famous architectures of Tabriz.

The original idea of a unique museum was formed 25 year ago in the minds of young “Sarabi” brothers.

Their eager eyes looking for old and valuable things in historical houses in rural and urban area of Azerbaijan, Tabriz bazaar,”Gajil” square, undergrounds of garden houses and stores of old markets. They tried to find documentaries from real people and costume of past which show culture, literature and traditions of Iranian and especially Azerbaijanis.

Ancient images, manuscript books, old metals and others are valuable things that these brothers spent their whole life and effort for them.

They have resurrected ancient Tabriz, life style of ancient people of that, equipment and working tools by their findings.
